        We LOVE the beach!
Summer, winter, rain or shine - it clears the mind, rejuvenates the soul, it's a time for lots of fun or just for exercise. Walking, swimming, surfing, playing in the sand - it's always been a favourite place.
Growing up I always wanted to live near the beach, and now I do! Based in Auckland - there are so many to choose from.  We - my two boys and partner -  go a lot....either to our special place in Northland, or visiting new beaches - it creates hours of entertainment. Having travelled widely before settling down, I can honestly say that New Zealand has some awesome beaches!

Looking at the way the world is going, the thought of adding to more plastic, more pollution, more waste was just a horrible thought. Instead we wanted natural products to take to a beautiful place, but many of these were hard to find. And so Beach Boutique NZ was created - concentrating on natural, sustainable products that can be used at the beach. Well, anywhere really!
I hope you enjoy the products we have sourced - lots of cottons, sugar cane toys, and bags made from natural materials.
Let's help make the world a better place!

Doing our bit for the environment

Our cards are made locally from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, 100% post-consumer recycled PCF. The paper is from sustainable forests.

The tissue paper is dyed with water-based inks and is biodegradable. So it can be composted or reused. Unfortunately it cannot be recycled as our supplier says the fibres in the tissue are too short for this. Our ribbon is made from natural twine, so can be reused or put in the compost in small pieces.

If we use brown paper for protection during couriering – it is made from recycled paper, but even this can be reused or recycled or composted (needs to be torn into little pieces for composting). Our tape is kraft paper-based tape and can be recycled.

To protect our glass products, we use a bubble wrap alternative - a combination of a patented die cut kraft paper with a tissue interleaf paper which expands to a 3D honeycomb structure. It is naturally biodegradable and compostable, recyclable, and made from sustainable forests. The dispenser is also made from cardboard and recyclable.

Our courier bags are compostable - made with corn starch - a renewable and sustainable resource (they can be grown and harvested in one season), PLA (a biodegradable thermoplastic) and PBAT (which is unfortunately derived from petroleum based products as there are no alternatives yet – producing a bag with 100% PLA would be too brittle). PLA and PBAT are internationally recognised as biodegradable and compostable, leaving behind no toxic residues when composted. These are certified to comply with the international standards for home and commercial composting (EN13432/AS4736/AS5810). You will need to please remove the courier sticker and non-toxic adhesive glue strip before putting in the compost. These bags can be used in many ways before composting eg turn them inside out as reuse as a courier bag, for weed matting, as seedling bags, as a food waste bag. Once it’s a bit worse for wear, they can then either be composted at home (needs to reach a temperature of 55 degrees or higher to break down) or through a commercial composter. The inks are soy based and non-toxic. Our supplier supports the Million Metres Streams Project.

Sometimes we may use recycled courier bags – these are made from post-consumer and post-industrial materials – so made entirely from waste. Even the packaging bag and removable adhesive backing is made from 100% recycled materials. These can be recycled where soft packaging recycling is available.

Depending on your order, we may even recycle cardboard boxes to pack your goodies - we are trying to limit our waste - and by reusing boxes that we may have received from suppliers, this is an extra way to look after the environment.

        Be safe
